OK to reuse self-locking nuts?

Upper front motor mounts on my car are retained by four "self-locking nuts" that my factory service manuals says should be thrown away and replaced once removed.

Couldn't I just reuse them with some threadlocking adhesive?

Answer:

On your GM built car, I have replaced the dogbone engine mounts and reused the lock nuts over again. On this particular application, it is ok. Just make sure that you have the nuts tight.

These nuts do not use a nylon insert to lock the nut in place, it uses a oblong hole to lock the nut. If it was using nylon then yes, I would replace them. Even if that were the case, I would use thread locker and reuse the nuts anyway.
